The Boise Bookmark: August 2026

Welcome to the very first edition of The Boise Bookmark, your monthly roundup of everything happening in Boise's bookish community.

Each month, we'll share local bookstore events, author signings, indie book releases, community happenings, and upcoming book club events throughout the Treasure Valley. Our goal is simple: connect readers with the incredible local businesses, authors, and events that make Boise such a vibrant place for book lovers.

Together, we can keep Boise bookish.

💕 Celebrate Bookstore Romance Day at Hearts on Fire Books

Independent bookstores across the country celebrate Bookstore Romance Day each August, and Hearts on Fire Books is planning an incredible celebration.

Visitors can meet Idaho author Bonnie Jo Pierson during her signing from 12–4 PM, enter an ARC raffle, shop Blind Book Dates, receive exclusive goodie bags (while supplies last), and browse an extensive romance selection.

It's the perfect opportunity to support an amazing local indie bookstore while discovering your next favorite romance novel.

📚 Local Pick of the Month

With wildfire season impacting so many communities across Idaho, we're highlighting a novel that feels especially timely.

Where the Black Line Ends by Idaho author Meagan Williamson follows an Idaho firefighter and explores courage, sacrifice, and resilience in the face of devastating wildfires. While it's a work of fiction, the story offers a meaningful look at the people who put everything on the line to protect our communities.

As firefighters continue working tirelessly across Idaho this season, we're incredibly grateful for everything they do to help protect our communities.

If you're looking to support a local author while adding a compelling read to your TBR, this one is definitely worth checking out.

❤️ Thank you to all of Idaho's firefighters, first responders, and emergency personnel for everything you do.

✨ Join Our Boise Women's Book Club

Looking to meet fellow readers?

Our Boise Women's Book Club returns on August 24 at Loose Screw Beer Co. for an evening of books, creativity, and conversation.

This month's featured craft is a DIY compact mirror, where attendees can decorate their own mirror using rhinestones, charms, pearls, and other embellishments to create a keepsake that's uniquely their own.

Our book club follows an open-format discussion, meaning there's no assigned book. Bring whatever you're currently reading, your latest five-star favorite, or simply come ready to discover new recommendations from fellow readers.

Whether you're attending solo or bringing a friend, you'll enjoy a fun evening of creativity, conversation, and connection with women who love books just as much as you do.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Loose Screw Beer Co. throughout the evening.
